Quest for the Lost Soul

Just a little blog about my journey to the Lost Soul Ultra in Lethbridge, Alberta. A little 100 mile runabout in September 2012 that I am looking forward to doing.

Not sure if I will post a bunch here so much as use it to follow all the other hot runners out there kicking ass and taking names. There is more to me than running, but there won't be more to this blog than running. I think.

Goal:

runningislife:

Not to say “I’ll just have water.” Instead, I will say, “Water, please,” or, “I’ll have water.” Saying “just water” completely undermines the absolutely fucking inconceivable awesomeness that is water. It’s just the shit. It’s like the unicorn of real life.

taper

nothing like a forced taper.  I have ran once this week for 7k.  Son sick on Sunday, Monday planned day off, Daughter sick Monday night, I got sick Tuesday, Wednesday sick, Wednesday night at hospital with daughter for false alarm, although the trip there resulted in puke all over the car.

Anyways, feel better today.  And my legs feel super fresh.

life

hit the wall last week.  Ended with 7.5 hours of running and 7.5 hours of biking.  Super easy on the weekend.  Monday off.  Then today was supposed to be ride run ride but daughter up ALL night so 2 hour sleep means no nothing except maybe yoga.  So, yeah, killer taper coming for the race on Sunday.  So there  is that.

Currently thinking rim to rim to rim. Pipe dreaming.

Easy 6 k today. Well not so easy considering the 10 hours of running and biking I did monday to Wednesday. Sore and legs are b e a t.

First 7 plus hours of sleep in. Over 6 weeks. Almost 10 hours. Of course I have never been so stiff.

This week so far:

4:56 biking
5:05 running
1:00 yoga.

11 hours in 3 days. Hoping for no snow so I can get another 3 in tomorrow.

Legs r chronically sore. Did 30 k yesterday, rode and ran Monday, 2 hours Sunday, 3 hours of hills Friday. Off to ride run ride today. Not sure if best way to do things.

trainwithmarc asked: do you race often? I coach runners online, so if you ever need any help or advice, let me know!

I gotta about 8 on the calender for this year.  I try to follow pfitz’s plans for the most part, but my limiter now is more my base (only about 2 years of consistent running) and my weight (about 185-190 now, gotta get that down to at least 175).  Hopefully next year I will put out a solid effort at a  Half Marathon.  For now it is all about the Ultras.
